A Stylish 2nd half 20th Century West German Art Pottery Vase, with relief moulded floral designs by BAY KERAMIK. The vase stands on a narrow rounded unglazed foot with a recessed base with the rounded cylindrical shaped body moulded in relief with floral stems set between simple moulded patterned borders. The vase is hand painted in tones of brown, orange. Turquoise on a matted cream ground with rubbed elements within its design. Marked with 94 40 on the bottom West Germany Bay. The company was founded by Eduard Bay in Western German in 1933. It production was mainly utilitarian. From early 1950’s decorative items were introduced. One of the most prominent designers during the late 50’s & 60’s was BODO MANS, whose colourful designs were very popular at the time and are extremely collectable nowadays.
Marks are moulded to the base. The name Bay is often seen with West (W) _ Germany. 94.40
