Description

This lamp is a beautiful combination of black varnish and chrome/nickel, and was designed by H.Th.J.A. Busquet for Hala Zeist (1914-1977). Because of its design, quality and functionality, this is still a popular lamp among lovers of designer lighting. In the 1930s, this lamp was first manufactured as model 144. Influences of Bauhaus and Art Deco are clearly visible and thanks to its timeless design, this lamp still has a modern appeal. A striking detail is the on/off switch incorporated into the lamp’s arm. The Dutch designer Herman Th. J. A. Busquet was born in The Netherlands in 1914. His style was distinctly minimalistic and durable. This brought forth several classics over the years, including the ‘Pinocchio’, (also sold on this website) the clamp lamp model 122 and this desk lamp model 144.
